Site Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors and Engineers whose duties include responsibility for the planning of lifting operations and who will have overall control to act on behalf of the management of the organisation requiring the load to be moved.

Course Objectives

To provide clear information on all current legislation, codes of practice and guidance notes associated with the safe use of cranes and lifting gear during lifting operations, ensuring the implementation of a safe system of work.  To gain theoretical and practical knowledge and information on the Appointed Person’s responsibilities.

Course Content

  • responsibilities and all statutory requirements – in particular the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the approved Code of Practice BS7121 supporting legislation
  • Requirements of British Standards approved Code of Practice
  • BS7121 “Safe Use of Cranes” and the role of the Appointed Person


on the successful completion of the course the candidates will be issued with a red CPCS card.
