CPCS Appointed Person – A61
Monday 2nd September to Friday 6th September 2019
(5 consecutive days)
Site Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors and Engineers whose duties include responsibility for the planning of lifting operations and who will have overall control to act on behalf of the management of the organisation requiring the load to be moved.
CPCS defines a category as an item of plant or equipment used within the construction or allied industries and worked in accordance with the manufacturer’s basic design or legislative guidance or a role or duty in support of plant operations this category is defined as a role or duty of an individual planning lifting operations.
The Appointed Person is responsible for ensuring that a lifting operation is properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out in a safe manner. A full description of the duties and responsibilities of an appointed person can be found in the Appointed Code of Practice for the Lifting Operations and Lifting equipment Regulations 2014 (L113) and Bs 7121 Part 1:2016.
- Responsibilities and all statutory requirements – in particular the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the approved Code of Practice BS7121 supporting legislation
- Requirements of British Standards approved Code of Practice
- BS7121 “Safe Use of Cranes” and the role of the Appointed Person
on the successful completion of the course the candidates will be issued with a red CPCS card.
