DESIGNED FOR All levels of site management with responsibility for health and safety.
Course Objectives At the end of the course students will have an appreciation of the problem of accidents in construction work, be appraised of the necessary legal requirements, and will have a working knowledge of the safety precautions required on site.
Course Content Module 1 Causes and prevention of accidents Legal requirements and responsibilities Safety measures: - temporary site electrics - excavations and earthworks - basic scaffolding and access - lifting equipment and lifting gear - Fire - causes, prevention and control Module 2 Control and planning site safety Safety measures: - mechanical plant and equipment - transport and mobile plant - health hazards and noise control - overhead and underground services - demolition and refurbishing - working with asbestos, coshh Module 3 Safety measures: - erection of structures and falsework - welding - gas and electric arc - lasers - site radiography - contaminated sites - working in confined spaces - piling activities, sheet piles, driven and bored piles - roadworks - work over water - manual/mechanical handling
Course Duration Six days split into three Modules of Two Days. Each Module is a complete course.
