Course Objectives
At the end of the course students will have an appreciation of the problem of accidents in construction work and of the legal requirements and will have a working knowledge of the safety precautions necessary in respect of those technical subjects listed below.
Course Content
Types and causes of construction accidents and preventative measures UK Law - The Legal System - Main Legal Requirments - 'Health and Safety at Work etc., Act 1974' and supporting regulations including: - Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 which covers 'Risk Assessments and Method Statements' - Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - Site Waste Management Plans Regulations 2008 - Intervention Skills and Behaviour Special problems and safety measures in connection with: Temporary site electrics Excavations and earthworks Basic scaffolding Lifting equipment and lifting gear Fire - Causes, Prevention and Control
