According to recent research by the government Health and Safety Executive, although the construction industry only accounts for 5% of the UK’s workforce, figures show that 22% of fatal injuries and 10% of reported major injuries are occurring within this sector.
With these kind of statistics, it’s clear that occupational health and safety in the UK construction industry continues to be of major importance. Whilst some of these injuries occur through circumstances that are out of the worker’s control, the majority of them can be avoided given the right health and safety training.
