Since 1st August 2021, HSE has become a statutory consultee for planning applications that involve (or may involve) a relevant building.
On Monday 5th July the Building Safety Bill was formally introduced in the House of Commons. The second reading took place on 21st July. These were both important milestones for the proposed reforms to building safety law.
Planning Gateway One (PGO) is now open and has two key elements that include:
- to require the developer to submit a fire statement setting out the fire safety considerations specific to the development with a relevant application for planning permission for development which involves one or more relevant buildings and,
- to establish the Health & Safety Executive as a statutory consultee for relevant planning applications.
PGO has been introduced to help ensure that applicant and decision-makers consider planning issues relevant to fire safety.
