CITB Release Annual Construction Skills Network Report

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) have released their annual CITB’s Construction Skills Network (CSN) 2024-28 report, which addresses the personnel gap between the demands of the UK construction industry and its workforce.

The report found that the industry recruit 200,000 new workers each year, but are losing more skilled, retiring workers (210,000 workers).

Despite this, the report also finds the UK construction industry:

  • Rose by 2% in 2023, the third consecutive year of growth
  • Will grow by an average 2.4% a year between now and 2028
  • The equivalent of 251,500 extra workers are required over the next five years to keep up with demand
CITB has invested £267m in response to help the construction industry improve its quality, diversity, and productivity as well as making the industry an attractive choice for generations to come.

CITB have found the best opportunities are in the following sectors:

  • Private housing
  • Infrastructure
  • Repair and maintenance
