October Monthly Meeting

Join us in October for TWO fantastic speakers: Andy Hickmott, Head of Fire Safety, Heathrow Airport, and Matt Humby from Sentura returns to introduce Pyroflow, non-toxic, eco friendly material that can provide preventative fire protection and fire fighting provision for metal and lithium-ion battery fires.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles – Varied Fire Risks at Heathrow Airport

Andy Hickmott spent 30 years in the Fire Service in both county and metropolitan areas across the UK. He served in various roles and locations in the London Fire Brigade for 15 years up to Assistant Commissioner level before leading Warwickshire Fire Sevices for 6 years as Chief Fire Officer.

He spent periods of his career in specialist fire protection roles including in the busy commercial area of London’s West End and later as the senior Fire Safety Officer for the London Borough of Camden.

He attended and commanded numerous significant incidents during his career including the Ladbroke Grove train crash as well as several incidents in and around Heathrow Airport both large and small. Most notably he operated as the London Fire Brigade Gold Commander during the London riots in August 2011 when the demands and pressures on blue light services were extreme.

He joined Heathrow Airport in February 2021 as Head of Fire Safety.
