Government Aims to Raise the Use of Timber in Construction

The Government have announced a new roadmap to promote the use of sustainable UK timber in the construction of homes and buildings.

It plans to advocate the use of sustainable UK timber whilst planting forests to accommodate the consumption, which will reduce emissions towards the Government’s target of net zero, and boosting commerce by cutting imports. Currently 80% of the timber used in UK construction is imported but these new plans aim to inject £2bn into the UK economy whilst creating new jobs in the sector also.
