Government Republish RP132 Guidance on Storing and Treating Waste Extinguishers

The Government have republished Regulatory Position Statement (RPS) 132 guidance on storing and treating waste fire extinguishers on March 13th 2024.

Amendments include:

  • Storage of extinguishers no longer than 3 months before treatment
  • Storage undercover and in a secure way
  • No discharge of foam to sewer
  • Any foams containing POPS should be sent for high temperature incineration.
  • If you are using this RPS you must apply for an environmental permit by 1st September 2024
  • This RPS will be withdrawn on 1st September 2025
