HSE Publishes Work-Related Fatality Figures for 2022/23

Although the main statistics document will be published later this year the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) work- related fatal workplace figures were released on 6th July 2023.

When comparing injuries per 100,000, the agriculture, fishing and forestry industries are a lot higher at 8.6 per 100,000 and the Waste sector at 4.08 per 100,000 compared to the construction sector of 1.72 per 100,000.

Total deaths: 135

Construction: 45

Agriculture, forestry, and fishing: 21

Manufacturing: 15

Transporation and storage: 15

 

However, there has been a slight increase in the number of Construction fatalities and this needs to be reviewed and understood, to determine how we can improve on these figures. 

HSE have confirmed that the full statistical report will be released on 22 November 2023 at 9.30am.
