Clare is an Occupational Health & Hygiene Partner with Park Health & Safety Partnership. She previously worked at HSE and has over 20 years’ experience in workplace health management. Clare is an Associate Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene with post graduate qualifications in both Occupational Hygiene and Health Ergonomics. Her role involves assisting organisations in achieving their goals in health risk management. With a strong interest and experience in assisting organisations develop a strategic and sustainable approach to health management, she also works closely with senior management teams to embed appropriate leadership and culture needed for organisational health maturity.
She has pioneered many innovative tools and models to allow accessible and targeted solutions.
Having undergone HSE’s Specialist Inspector Training she has strong familiarity and experience with the GB regulatory scheme and a deep topic of understanding of exposures, control and impact of heath risks at work.
She is actively involved in advising many industry sector working groups to embed a strategic health roadmap of improvement and sits on cross government committees to influence and evolve understanding and approaches to improving health through the workplace.
Clare is the founder and director of the UK Hearing Conservation Association which was launched in March 2019 and aims to prevent damage to people’s hearing health and other noise related health conditions; through a multidisciplinary approach to developing practical, evidenced and cost-effective communications and solutions.
Melodie is one of the UK’s leading experts in the development of the occupational health management systems. She frequently speaks and writes on the topic and serves a number of HSE committees. Having worked as a practising occupational hygienist for over 20 years, she has plenty of first hand experience to draw upon.
When the Olympic Delivery Authority procured a comprehensive occupational health programme, Melodie was one of the leaders of the Olympic Park and Olympic Village health teams, providing support to the contracting supply chain and services for up to 12,000 workers who were stationed on the site at any one time. The ill health prevention work that she managed has been identified, in an independent research paper undertaken by the Institute of Employment Studies (ES), as best practice and as an effective investment, rather than a cost.
Internationally, Melodie has worked alongside JTI on the creation and implementation of their Global Wellness Strategy.
Melodie has also directed the creation of the occupational health management strategies for Crossrail, the Thames Tideway Tunnel and Battersea projects. She is currently leading the delivery of the ill health prevention and occupational health for an HS2 enabling contract.
