As the UK leaves the European Union, certain legislation and policy will be reviewed, revised and changed. The Environment Bill does exactly this, as it sets out a new environmental governance framework that looks to tackle significant environmental challenges including the plastics crisis, biodiversity loss and air pollution.
The Bill is expected to receive Royal Assent by the end of 2020, but it is important to note that as this Bill passes through Parliament aspects of the Bill are likely to still change. Government have also committed that this Bill would include measures on air quality, nature recovery, waste and resource efficiency, and water management.
Once the Bill receives Royal Assent a more in-depth guide will be published.
